Signal Service is a free email newsletter about artificial intelligence, run by Kieran Singh in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit signalservice.ai or subscribe, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it simple: we only collect what we need to send you a great newsletter, and we never sell your data.
Kieran Singh, trading as Signal Service, is the data controller. You can contact us about anything in this policy at [email protected].
Information you give us: your email address when you subscribe, your name if you choose to share it, and anything you send us when you reply to an email or answer a poll or survey.
Information collected automatically: whether you open our emails and which links you click, the date you subscribed and how you found us (for example, a link from Instagram), and basic technical data such as your approximate location, device and browser, collected through our email and website provider.
We use your data to send you the newsletter and any emails you have asked for, such as our welcome email; to understand which stories and topics are most useful so we can improve the newsletter; to keep our emails out of spam folders by removing inactive or invalid addresses; and to reply when you contact us.
Under UK GDPR, we send you the newsletter because you have given your consent by subscribing. We measure opens and clicks and keep our list healthy on the basis of our legitimate interest in running and improving the newsletter. You can withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing.
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We use beehiiv, Inc. to host our website and send our emails, which means your data is stored on their systems. beehiiv is based in the United States, so your data may be transferred outside the UK. Where this happens it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or standard contractual clauses. If we feature sponsors in the future, we will only ever share anonymous, combined statistics (such as total subscribers or average open rate), never your personal details. We may also disclose data if required by law.
Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies that are needed for it to work, such as keeping you signed in and remembering your subscription. Our emails contain tracking pixels and tracked links so we can see opens and clicks. You can block images in your email app to stop open tracking.
We keep your data for as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so we do not email you again by mistake, and delete the rest of your data within a reasonable period unless the law requires us to keep it.
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. You can unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of every email. For anything else, email [email protected] and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Signal Service is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and if the changes are significant we will let you know by email.
